Northstar Tonewoods Ltd.

Northstar is a Canadian company based out of Vancouver, British Columbia. We specialize in offering Canadian and South American Logs, Lumber, Veneer, and Musical parts. 

As a Proud member of FSC, our values for ethical harvesting and legal supply is monumentally important; as such, in keeping in line with our company values; we operate mills out of 3 countries. This allows us to maintain complete control of all species we offer – from sourcing to sales.

Our mills are located in Vancouver, Canada; Santa Cruz, Bolivia and Paramaribo, Suriname. Each mill offers specific advantages on the products we offer.

Vancouver, BC Canada

With over 30 years of experience, Northstar headquarters and office is located in Vancouver, BC Canada. Being situated in the Pacific North West; we specialize in offering majestic Western Red Cedar, Yellow Cedar, Sitka Spruce, Englemann Spruce; and figured Big Leaf Maple for Musical instruments. We offer Logs, Lumber, and Kiln dried Musical parts.

Santa Cruz, Bolivia

Nestled between Chile, Brazil and Paraguay; Bolivia is rich with an abundance of exotic wood species. Our specialty at this mill is Pau Ferro / Santos Rosewood Lumber, Veneers and Music Tonewoods. Pau Ferro; also known as Santos Rosewood, Bolivian Rosewood, and Morado; is similar in appearance and properties to Rosewood. Although not technically in the Dalbergia genus (Machaerium); it is about as close to a true Rosewood as wood can get.

Pau Ferro / Santos Rosewood has been one of our most in-demand offerings; as it is a very well managed CITES-free substitute to Rosewood, that is almost exclusively available from Bolivia. We offer both FSC and Non-FSC Veneer, lumber, and Musical Parts from this mill. All Logs are from legal harvest, sourced in conjunction with Bolivian ABT Forestry permitting.

Paramaribo, Suriname

Located at the Western Tip of the Caribbean; Suriname is situated at the foot of the Amazon Rainforest. Our specialty wood offerings from Suriname are: Granadillo, Snakewood, Marblewood, Purpleheart, Brownheart, IPE and more. Our primary venture is Log Export; however, we also accommodate decking and lumber projects.

Both FSC and Non-FSC products are available. All Logs are from legal harvest, sourced in conjunction with Suriname SBB Forestry permitting.
